“Let Your Kind Shine”
Kindness is everywhere at CES! The three recipients of this week's awards were nominated by a teacher or staff member for showing exceptional kindness. They received a sunshine bag and the opportunity to sit in the yellow sunshine chair over the next week to promote kindness throughout CES!
Nevaeh Anderson (Mrs. Bonderer’s 1st Grade)
Nevaeh is very empathetic and encourages classmates when they are feeling down. She offered to walk with a sad friend to breakfast and told her everything was going to be okay. She gave a big hug to another friend who had lost a family member over the weekend.
Jake Romesburg (Ms. Myers’ 2nd Grade)
Jake is a great friend to everyone in and outside of our classroom. He is quick to help out when needed. Jake also shows responsibility and is a hard working student. Thank you, Jake, for doing your best even when you may not want to!
Tennyson Bevelle (Mrs. Montgomery & Mrs. Taylor’s 5th Grade)
Tennyson often helps other students get to where they need to be, helps them gather supplies, lets others have turns in class and uses kind words with others. He brings a light to others!

Here are a few of our Goal Getters for this week!

Our 3rd Grade Grand River Tech Tadpoles visited Grand River Technical School today. They visited the automotive, welding and computer science technology. The purpose of “Grand River Tech Tadpoles” is to introduce third grade students to a variety of career choices. Grand River Technical School students will mentor thirty third graders along paths that could possibly lead to their future careers. Students experience a real focused idea of how careers connect with what they are learning at school. Students get to see the variety of opportunities available to them as they get older and begin making career path choices at an early age. CES appreciates the opportunity to partner with the GRTS.
For a total of five visits, students will tour a program at GRTS and complete a hands-on project that relates to the program they toured.

Ryan Parker (Miss Holcer’s Kindergarten)
Ryan is so helpful. He goes above and beyond to help his peers and teachers. If he sees a friend who is upset he immediately goes to their side. Ryan loves to give hugs to everyone and is always trying to share his smile.
Luke Hamilton (Mrs. Howe’s 2nd Grade) Luke is a perfect example of a student who is just simply a ray of sunshine in your day. He comes into school with a smile everyday, and greets me with a hug. He will randomly just give me multiple hugs throughout the day, which always brightens my day. He is helpful to all students. He even cleaned up my room by picking up all the paper on the floor without being asked. He talks to all the teachers and asks how their day is. He plays with anyone and everyone at recess. He is a friend to all. Luke is so deserving of this award!
Noah Fisher (Mrs. Hawkin’s 4th Grade) In the breakfast line, Noah allowed several kindergartners to go in front of him at breakfast! What a great role model for our younger students at CES!

Conservationists Bradley Addison and Adam Brandsgaard from the Missouri Department of Conservation visited CES this week. The Conservation Educators trained our 2nd grade team in the Discover Nature Program. The purpose of the Discover Nature Schools program is to promote conservation education through instructional units that meet grade-level expectations and encourage hands-on outdoor learning experiences. Each unit is designed to increase students' understanding and appreciation of our natural resources and their role in conserving them. The program also partially funds field trip expenses to a conservation area.

Our 3rd graders participated in the Old Time Harvest Festival on Friday, where they got an exciting glimpse into Missouri’s rich history. As a major focus of 3rd grade is Missouri history, the festival was a perfect fit, featuring demonstrations of old-fashioned machinery, apple cider pressing, butter churning, and much more!
