The CES Speech and Language Pathology Department recently received a generous donation from former Chillicothe School District speech pathologist, Mrs. Jane Ledbetter.

Kindness is everywhere at CES! The three recipients of this week's awards were nominated by a teacher or staff member for showing exceptional kindness. They received a sunshine keepsake and the opportunity to sit in the yellow sunshine chair over the next week to promote kindness throughout CES!
Raelyn Bittaker (Miss Cothern’s 1st Grade)
Raelyn is always giving someone a smile. She is constantly encouraging others and including people that are not involved.
Lexi Danner (Ms. Davis’ 3rd Grade)
Lexie is a ray of sunshine everyday. She is the first to help out, cheer up a friend at recess, or fill up her teacher's water bottle with ice every morning! Lexie shines with kindness each and every day. Go Lexie!
Clara Kerr (Mrs. Gilliland’s 5th Grade)
Clara is always checking on those around her. She cares about others feelings, one example of this happened during out Partner in Education session. Our presenter was passing out candy for correct answers to questions. She had already gotten a piece and when she answered a second question correct she gave her piece to another student who had not been able to give an answer yet. The student was very appreciative. This is one small example of how she lets her kindness show. She is willing to lift others up and always kind

Some kindergartners are using CVC words to build sentences on their own!
Over the last two weeks, our fifth grade WINGS class dissected 7 small animals to learn about the different body systems & animal classifications. The exploration included an earthworm, starfish, grasshopper, perch, clam, crawfish, & bullfrog.

We had some special guests join our 4th–5th grade lunch today! A big thank-you to our CMS Band and Student Council for sharing your incredible music and outstanding leadership with our students. It was a wonderful and inspiring experience for everyone!

Mrs. Howe's 2nd grade class designed physical maps of landforms. Then, they made an edible design of their map. What a fun way to end their unit on landforms and maps!
Miss Cothern's 1st grade class had a fun day, today learning about weather! We made cumulonimbus clouds out of shaving cream, and then added our water droplets to make a storm in a cup!! 🌧️
