Sub Spotlight - Shelley Singleton

Mrs. Shelley Singleton is one of our awesome substitute teachers here at Chillicothe R-II Schools! She has subbed for twelve years and works mostly at CES or Field Schools.

Shelley explains that she enjoys substitute teaching in the District because, as a retired teacher, she is familiar with the staff and the educational setting in general. “My degree was in education with an emphasis in early childhood, which makes subbing at these schools familiar,” Shelley said.

Shelley also mentioned, while the job of substitute teaching may not be the easiest in the world,  the school staff at both buildings are very helpful. “It is also rewarding to see what gains the students are making here at Chillicothe R-II,” she said.

Shelley added that, as a retired Chillicothe R-II School District teacher, she also knows many of the staff at each building, which is also nice. She noted that she also enjoys seeing former colleagues and even subs for some of her former students. “I enjoy being around the students and staying current on educational trends,” she said.

Anyone interested in working as a substitute teacher here at Chillicothe R-II Schools may qualify for a Substitute Certificate in three ways:
