Allison Higgins and Kathryn Munoz participated in the 2022 Northwest District Choir this Saturday, October 29. They had the privilege of rehearsing and performing alongside 190 students from 30 different schools within the district under the expert leadership of Grammy nominated conductor Anthony Maglione from William Jewell. Additionally, after a second audition, HIggins received Honorable Mention to the 2023 Missouri All-State Choir.

Jacob Carpenter -Jacob held the door open for several people entering the building today. It was freezing cold and it was such a kind gesture!
Will McCoy-Straightened and moved tables for teachers for Parent-Teacher conferences in the CHS gym without being asked.
Alijah Hibner-Without being asked, he folded a whole laundry basket full of clean towels and put them away!
Gabe Cassidy-Held the front door open this morning for a few staff members & students.

CHS state softball send-off through downtown will be at approximately 10:30 am on Thursday morning. Feel free to send-off the softball team as they drive down 65 highway and they attempt to win a state title in Springfield on Friday and Saturday.
Our teachers are always learning! Last (Monday) night, they began a study on Ruby K. Payne's Emotional Poverty research. Ruby Payne holds a Ph.D., and is an American educator and author best known for her work on the culture of poverty and its relation to education.
Congratulations to the CHS girls team on earning a state trophy for being the fourth best team in Missouri!
Good luck to the CHS tennis team at the MSHSAA final four in Springfield, Missouri today and tomorrow.

Congratulations to the CHS softball team, with the 5-1 victory over Oak Grove they have advanced to the MSHSAA state championship final four in Springfield, Missouri on October 28-29. They will play at noon on October 28 vs Bowling Green.
Congratulations to Jessica Reeter and James Mathew, CHS Students of the Week for the week of 10-10 through 10-14.

Congratulations to Esperanza Parkes and Carol Minor, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past few days. They were identified as doing the following -
Esperanza Parkes- Esperanza found a phone that had been laid down in the restroom after school. Espy found it and immediately turned it into the office! So thankful for her honesty and kindness!
Carol Minor -During advisory reward time, Carol asked if she could use the time to give a new student to CHS a tour of the building. What an excellent way to make a new Hornet feel welcomed!

Congratulations to Mrs. Carla Kelly and Mr. Jim Wheeler, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past few days. They were identified as doing the following - Mrs. Carla Kelly - Carla jumped up (literally) and started helping me get out more chairs for seniors and parents at FAFSA Frenzy. Thanks Carla!
Mr. Jim Wheeler - Mr. Wheeler saw 2 students had gotten into a fender bender on Hornet Road after school. He flew up the hill with super speed and not only made sure the students were OK and knew what to do, he then began directing traffic for several minutes until the mass exodus had slowed. He performed a Random Act of Kindness.
Congratulations to Gabe Hansen, Colton Sullivan, Corbin Rodenberg, and Brody Hollifield, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past few days. They were identified as doing the following - Gabe Hansen - Gabe immediately started helping carry out chairs for our overflow crowd at FAFSA Frenzy. He did not take a seat himself until he saw everyone else was taken care of. Thanks Gabe!Colton Sullivan - Colton is always helpful and hard-working. He made sure all the chairs were put up at the end of the day after everyone left. He is awesome!Corbin Rodenberg - Corbin is always cheerful and engaged in class. Picks up trash around the room before he leaves. Gives his teacher a high five on the way out the door every day. Finally, saw a student nearly left their purse in class and rushed to catch them before they left.Brody Hollifield - Brody jumped up to open the door for a student who was a little late coming back form lunch. All the other students just looked at the door and he showed wonderful manners to get the door for her! Chivalry is not dead! Thank you, Brody!

CHS FAFSA Frenzy had an attendance of approximately 100 with 43 seniors being represented. The meeting included senior information from Mrs. Tipton, a scholarship update from Mrs. Baker, an introduction to Vocational Rehabilitation from Mrs. Amy Guyett and a Financial Aid/FAFSA presentation from North Central Missouri College Financial Aid officers. Eight families stayed and were able to complete their FAFSA on site.
Due to the success of the Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball team parent-teacher conferences in the Chillicothe High School gym will end early. We will be ending our conferences at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, so that we can go to Danner Park and cheer on the team in the quarterfinal playoff softball game that we are hosting. If you need to meet with a particular teacher, please feel free to contact them to discuss the matter.
