This project had us creating two different reactions to get rid of the Zinc plating (Zn + 2HCl -> ZnCl2 + H2) and the other is to put on a copper plating (Fe + Cu(NO3)2 -> Fe(NO3)2 + Cu). I enjoyed making this ornament and getting to see the metal chemically change color when you change the zinc plating to a copper plating.

This lab was fun, I found it interesting how the acid could remove a layer of metal. I also found it interesting how the metal bubbled when it was in the acid. It was really cool watching the copper plate the metal, you could see it slowly turning into a copper color. I also don't understand how the acid could eat through the metal but didn’t do anything to the tape.

I love having gingerbread for the holidays. Me and my family have this tradition where we have a decorating contest with either the gingerbread men or houses. So, making a gingerbread man ornament seemed like the perfect idea.

Enjoy the 4th edition of Chilli-Chatter. Merry Christmas from the students, faculty, & staff of CHS.

Coordinated by Mrs. Rule, credit also goes to Megan Sisson who did ALL of the editing and most of the filming. Trey Tipton also jumped in to assist. Both of these students did so with an eagerness to volunteer and do something nice for the school and the veterans. If you see Megan or Trey, then please commend them. Thank you, Mr. Wheeler, for hosting and Mrs. Cavanah and Miss Noneman for assisting with the wonderful band pieces. You'll definitely want to watch until the end when Brandon Kiser and Colby Newman do a lovely rendition of Taps.
