According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days are designated days that allow school districts to provide instructional continuity during unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather or other emergencies that may disrupt traditional classroom learning. AMI days enable districts to implement flexible learning options, ensuring that students can continue their education outside of the classroom setting. During these days, teachers may assign online coursework, provide learning packets, or utilize other instructional resources to engage students and maintain academic progress.

The goal of AMI days is to minimize disruptions to the educational process, allowing students to remain connected to their learning while accommodating the challenges posed by unexpected school closures. By leveraging technology and innovative teaching strategies, AMI days support the district's commitment to student success and learning continuity.
