The Academic Department in the Chillicothe R-II School District is dedicated to ensuring that our students succeed and thrive in their educational journey. We understand that curriculum development is an ongoing process and that curriculum is always changing! As new standards, teaching strategies, resources, and digital tools become available, we continually update our curriculum to provide the best learning experiences for our students.

Currently, we are making adjustments to align with the Missouri Learning Standards set by the state. These standards cover a wide range of subjects beyond the core courses Commiunication Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. They also include Business, Career and Technical Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, expectations in Health and Physical Education, Foreign Languages, and Fine Arts.

While these standards are important, they are just one part of the bigger picture. When we develop our curriculum and units of study, we also consider the unique needs of our community and students, along with our district's mission and vision. The standards guide us on where we want our students to go, but how we get them there is a collaborative effort among our educators and community.

The curriculum and assessments created by our dedicated teachers are designed to prepare students for the world beyond our school. By focusing on critical thinking, real-world applications, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in our daily lessons, we aim to equip our students with the skills they need to achieve their dreams and become informed, productive members of society in the future. We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to partnering with you in your child's education!
