Board of Education
The Chillicothe R-II School District Board of Education consists of seven elected citizens who represent the community in shaping policies and procedures for the school district's operations, as well as managing its financial resources.
During Board meetings, members approve policies, review various reports, and vote on recommendations from the superintendent. These recommendations address important matters such as capital improvement plans, curriculum, discipline, maintaining a balanced budget, and authorizing expenditures in line with the annually approved budget.
Additionally, Board members:
Hire and evaluate the superintendent while delegating all administrative responsibilities.
Set goals and assess outcomes.
Engage with the broader community.
Ensure the school district's performance.
Board members serve staggered three-year terms, with elections held on the first Tuesday of April each year. To be eligible to run, candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 24 years old, resident taxpayers of the Chillicothe School District, and have lived in Missouri for at least one year.
