Field School

Just two months after the Chillicothe R-II Board of Education approved the sale of Dewey School to Michael Neal, of Luz Verde, LLC., the Board put its stamp of approval on the sale of Field School to the same buyer. The action was taken this (Wednesday) morning during a special Executive Session held at the Administrative Offices.

The Board approved the sale of Field School for the District’s asking price of $149,000. Neal, who has ties to the Chillicothe area, has stated in the District-required Conditional Transfer documents, that he has plans to renovate both properties into apartments. The approved contract for the sale of Field School allows for a 60 day due-diligence period before closing on or before October 31.

Field School, which is the current site of Chillicothe R-II summer school for kids in grades K-3 at 1110 Oak Street, is the final elementary school building sold since the completion of the new Chillicothe Elementary School and the pending completion of its new addition. When completed, CES will be the learning center for students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

Central School, at 321 Elm Street, sold for $31,500 in November 2019, and has since been remodeled into apartments. Garrison School, which hosted Pre-Kindergarten students in it’s last years as a school building at 209 Henry Street, sold at auction over the summer of 2018 and is now the site of Helping Hands Thrift Store.
